Charlie
Miller, P.E.
Principal
Charlie Miller is the founder and president of Roofscapes, Inc. His award-winning customized green roof designs integrate aesthetic and technical requirements, with an emphasis on thoughtful hydrologic engineering to sustain the living ecosystem. His interest in green roofs stems from his background in water resource engineering. His research into the German success in using green roofs to treat urban runoff led him to form an alliance with Optigreen (Optigrün International AG). Charlie is a member of the Technical Advisory Committees for the Center for Green Roof Research at the Pennsylvania State University, and the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Coalition, a Toronto-based research and public policy organization. He is also a member of the ASTM Subcommittee on Sustainability-Buildings (E.06.71) and the German Roof-Gardening Association. His publications include: Methodology for the Design of Vegetated Roof Covers (1999), and A New Method for Controlling Runoff in Urbanized Areas (1998).
Melissa
Muroff, Esq.

In 2002, Melissa relocated to Philadelphia from Washington, DC in 2002, where she had gained seven years of experience in management consulting and government affairs. Here, she founded Higher Ground, a professional services company that works with the public and private sectors to promote green roofs in the United States. Previously, she co-founded Flywheel Group, a management consultancy, where she led IT and constituent outreach projects - most recently for the American Institute of Architects. She earned her law degree at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and clerked for two years for the Chicago office of Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, one of the premier real estate law firms in the nation. She also received a Masters Degree in Medical Genetics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame.
