Distinguishing Features
A 2” thick Type I Roofmeadow® Flower Carpet vegetated cover was selected to complement the other sustainable development technologies in this project. The green roof was required to be very thin due to the existing constraints on allowable dead load. The Flower Carpet green roof is pitched 2:12, the maximum stable pitch for unsupported green roof covers. Despite its thin profile and steep pitch, this green roof is not irrigated. Runoff from the green roof is channeled into the rain garden below on the ground. The foundation for the Flower Carpet is a specialized fabric drainage mat composed of 100% recycled material. A diverse cover composed of Sedum and Delosperma, both temperate climate succulent plants, was established from plugs.
