This extensive Sedum green roof covers the podium level of the new World Trade Center building. It is an un-irrigated 5-inch deep Type III: Savannah Roofmeadow® assembly that has been optimized to reduce maintenance and to resist high wind conditions at the site. The strategy for wind protection includes the use of hidden ballasts and pre-vegetated mats to establish the vegetated cover. This was the first project in North America to deploy Roofrug™ pre-vegetated mats. This project is also compatible with the electric leak survey methods offered by Roofscapes, Inc.
