Distinguishing Features

Chicago Green Tech is the only rehabbed building in the nation to have been awarded the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum rating by the US Green Building Council.

A Roofmeadow® vegetated cover was selected to complement other sustainable development technologies in this project. To the inherent environmental benefits of the Roofmeadow® have been added the use of an extensive formulation containing recycled materials and the use of components fabricated from recycled ‘poly-lumber.’ This is a Type II: Aromatic Garden profile with 3 inches of growth media. A very diverse plant cover was established entirely from cuttings and seed (i.e., plugs were not used). This project also incorporated a Roofmeadow® root-barrier sub-system. The Sedum-based planting is not irrigated and has low maintenance requirements.

* Current licensed installers for the Chicago area are Walsh Landscape Construction and Foliage Design Systems, in Lombard, IL.
